Very nice ! It is curious 'cause the pose remembers me those painted Greek amphoras with soldiers, I like it. Nice work on the hand and muscles (with the shadows) and the shadows, basically. I also love the details on the shield, with the scratches and the arrows. You seem to have the same struggle I have with giving each piece of armor/clothing its own volume and space. I feel (i'm maybe wrong because of the position of the arm) that the pauldrons would not be that "stuck" together. ^^ The nose looks very round haha 
But nice work on light and shadows anyway, eh.
